HERE COMES CAT ACADEMY!

In May 98, Massmainia celebrated the release of their second CD, "Cat Academy," at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The twelve songs on this 2nd CD, written by singer-songwriter Rachel Berlin, were already getting great response from radio stations (eighty-five in all) across New England, New York, and Pennsylvania, as well as airplay on a show in country-wide syndication.

WBAI Public Radio in New York City called the music both "intelligent and humorous." The Concord Journal characterized the CD as the "Cat's Meow." Bob Morello of the Boston Post-Gazette said of the band: "Massmainia is a versatile group [who] create their unique sound on a dozen cuts. The lineup purrs." Steve Morse of the Boston Globe listed the "Cat Academy" release as a "unique event," and the Boston Globe Calendar featured the CD release show as one of their top picks, calling "Cat Academy" "a lighthearted blend of rock, country, and blues."

Special guests on "Cat Academy" include Billy Novick on pennywhisle, Tom West (Duke Levine Group) on piano and Hammond organ, and Kathy Burkly (Girls' Night Out, John Lincoln Wright) on drums.
